Pismo beach is about 14-miles away from San Luis Obispo towards the south. This pier washed out back in maybe 1986 and the town rebuilt the shoping and the pier and now Pismo Beach is still a great getaway. The waves don't curl they crash close-out then white wash = poor for surfing as a spport too much work. I too miss it.
