Hillary and Eric

How to crash a wedding: I decided this morning that the beautiful clouds warranted a photo excursion and headed north for the Shandon chapel. When I arrived, however, I saw that there was a wedding about the happen…at first I was a little annoyed because I had envisioned getting a whole round of beautiful cloud and chapel shots with no people, but I soon realized I had a pretty cool opportunity and got clicking. I tried to stay out of everybody’s way. I was hardly dressed for the day, what with dirty jeans from crawling around in the dirt at abandoned ranches and a yucky t-shirt. I figured the worst that could happen would be somebody would tell me to get the hell out and I would skulk away quietly. But nobody cared. In fact, even the wedding photographer didn’t mind me, which blew me away.

Anyway, I got a few decent shots and this was one of them.

No, they're just happy. I think that's why it worked out so well, everybody was too happy to get annoyed about a dirty photographer lurking around. ;)

You are deluding yourself if you think you've been crawling around "abandoned ranches" out here. I have no doubt that your presence was noted, your vehicle make, model, tire tracks, and shoe printes etc. were also noted. You need to ask permission otherwise you are trespassing. It is likely to be granted but make no mistake, this is not something that is treated lightly.

I have a feeling we are not really going to agree on this issue, but let's just say I'm a Big Picture person, okay? I don't want trouble, and I consider myself a basically polite and law-abiding citizen. But if you and your neighbors have nothing better to do than worry about a girl with a camera taking pictures of your weeds then you have bigger problems. Seriously. And honestly I probably would try to ask permission if I could find a way to do that, but more often than not I don't see anything for miles around and wouldn't have the slightest idea how or who to ask. If you give me some contact names and numbers I'd be happy to do so.

What's up with Shandon Girl? I like that the groom is looking at you, and the bride is looking at the person to your right (the official photographer?) They both look so happy and radiant!
