SLO's Gum Alley

Anybody know how long this has been around?

This is what I have heard: "The gum started appearing on the walls in 1960. People complained but the gum kept on coming." All I know is avoid this alley when one is full of booze.

yep. 60s. the mold is really starting to creep me out. but i like the little spot of gum on the higuera side that is peaking out by the shops.

Ugh. I have a completely rational craving for Purell hand sanitizer just looking at that alley. Used to walk through it every day on my way to work and CRINGE as if the gum could jump off the walls at me.

I love this place. They need to put some gum machines there, though, for those of us who aren't always packing! One time we went to Tom's Toys across the street & picked up some Silly String, an impermanent but fun addition.
