Some Things M&Ms Can’t Cure
Overindulged more than a little bit last night and am now feeling thoroughly poisoned. Interestingly, it’s not unlike the nausea I experienced for months on end when I was pregnant, and if I wasn’t certain that alcohol was to blame I’d probably be calling my ob/gyn right now. How smooth am I? Most people have their limits figured out by their twenties but since I never drank in my twenties I am clueless and learning the hard way. (Also, I can’t really do anything just a little bit. Those people that can eat one chocolate out of the box and then walk away? Not me).
I suppose there’s a number of things I need to get out of my system these last few months…thus the lack of updates. I am okay but working some things out. I think.
One good outcome of all my angst is I finally managed to drop the weight I’d been trying to lose, like, forever. It wasn’t much, but damned stubborn. So I’m 135 now (a little over 9 stones for you metric folks, I think?) and holy crap, I can wear size 8 jeans again. My 10s and 12s fall off me. I knew I had truly arrived, though, when I tried on my old work clothes from college the other night, and THEY ALL FIT. I was floored. The secret? Eat half as much as you want to and exercise twice as much as you want to.
It’s not been a good month financially. We got hit with all kinds of unexpected expenses, including one of our cars blowing up not once, but twice, and had I known what was going to happen I probably would have held off on buying Bruce that laptop so he can work on his train commute. It is pretty damn awesome, though. It’s so light and quiet and it has one o’ them new-fangled hybrid hard drives.
Been thinking about talking a film photography class, but this is entirely dependent on whether our kind neighbor feels like babysitting every week for 16 weeks, which might be a bit much. We’ll see. In the meantime, I have four months to pass that A+ certification exam, because come the holidays an ad I put in the phone book will come out. Yeah, that exam I’ve been talking about for 6 to 12 months. I am hoping I’ll actually have time to study once the girls are in school–that’s been a big problem.
This is what my computer workshop in the garage looks like, if you’re curious. I think I’ve posted pictures of it before, but that’s what it looks like at night when I do a lot of my stuff.
Skipped Blogher this year. Just wasn’t into it, and too broke anyway. If I’m going to go north I’d rather do it for a photo excursion, particularly around Oakland so I can get more stuff like this.
Oh, and the rabbit thing? Here’s how that’s going:
Arrgh. Good thing those don’t even fit anymore.
Oh yeah…and I finally joined you Twitter people!
