Hey Baby

For some reason this guy and all his friends thought I must be a pro photographer for some sort of media outfit. They couldn’t wait to ham it up for me.

I was trying out Bruce’s forlorn old low-end film SLR in San Francisco to see if it might work for our trip east next month, since I don’t have the $1k I was hoping to have by now for a D80. Anyway, the pictures? Bleah. Only one or two came out decently at all. This was one of them, and it had lots of help in Photoshop.

It’s a losing battle with his camera unless you have the whole deal: light meter, an UNDERSTANDING of light meters, tripod, extra film, time to set up all that stuff, etc., etc.. Oh God, fuck all that.

I am, however, anxiously awaiting my new Vivitar Wide and Slim due to arrive any day now from England. I am also coveting Lori’s Vivitar IC 101.

I really need stay away from eBay.

I recently got a new camera, a Canon 5D and it is simply mind-blowing what a difference a new camera makes! Maybe the D80 will be in your stocking soon. I’m not a Nikon person, what is the Canon equivalent to the D80 do you think?

I know exactly what Santa’s bank account looks like, and I’m pretty sure it’s not happening :P

Best Canon equivalent would probably be the Rebel XTi, I think. I like the Nikon only because it has a slightly bigger sensor, which is probably better for landscapes.

Post link to your Flickr account if you have one, I’d love to see!
