Allergies 1, Me 0
I’m feeling much better now. This is an avatar I found randomly the other day and I’m posting it here because I thought it was incredibly awesome. That was me when I was doing that reformat about a month ago.
Anyway, my doctor’s verdict is–get this, allergies. It’s news to me that allergies could lay you that low, but since I passed every blood test with flying colors,** I have to believe her. She claims ramping up the allergy meds should take care of it. I suppose it makes some sense, since Bruce has been dealing with a bad case of sinusitis–also allergy related–so perhaps this is just a bad allergy season.
Other news of late:
* We lost our original renter in the mobile home. (Remember how freaked I was about paying for that project over a year ago?). The guy had a heart attack, and with the mounting medical bills and barely being able to work, he ended up declaring bankruptcy and moving back to Bakersfield. If there was any way we could have floated him the rent we would have–clearly, these things weren’t his fault. He was a really nice and helpful guy. Anyway we found some new renters, a nice woman who is a tour guide at Hearst Castle and her mother, whom she is caretaker for.
* The girls have recently decided to revert to the schedule of 6 month-olds, getting up at 6 and 6:30am instead of their usual 7:30. Unfortunately, I have yet to convince my body that it should get up at this time. This is the result. We have had more incidents like this lately than I care to think about.
* I have finally managed to completely switch out the habit of plastic grocery bags. We now use cloth bags for grocery shopping exclusively. Not very exciting, I know, but I have heard rumors that our county may adopt a measure similar to San Francisco’s, so maybe it’s just as well.
* I was going to buy myself a DSLR this month (the one all the cool kids have!), and naturally this week our water heater decided to blow up. A handyman we hired to look at the flood in the garage declared that it was absolutely, positively the washing machine. (It’s a 15 or 16 year-old Lady Kenmore). Too bad he was absolutely, positively wrong. So now we have a new washing machine AND a new water heater. I suppose we could have returned the washing machine but the washer is pretty old and we might only get another year or so out of it and have a flooded garage all over again. But does this help our massive debt situation? Not really.
We are socked in again as usual (you can only see for about a block or two) and so we’re off to SLO for some SUN now.
** My mother will be pleased to know that I am STILL not deficient in anything after 10+ years of no meat! Somebody call the Vatican!
