Happy Father’s Day

Happy Father's Day

Tonight I have a massive headache and a twitchy bladder and I think it’s going to be another night of turning in early. Yesterday I made the mistake of having a fish taco from the Avila Farmer’s market (yum!) and I guess it had some hidden no-nos in it (ow!)…probably lemon juice, pepper, and the salsa. Which I thought I had scraped off most of. Whatever it was, wow, was bladder mad–and I am learning that once it reaches a certain point the night is ruined and no amount of pills is going to help. I suffered until 3am at which point I was finally able to get to sleep. At 8:30 it was time to get up so Bruce could go to his soccer game. Wild dogs could be chewing my arms off but that soccer game will not be missed for any reason.

I am getting so tired of these little surprises. I ate the same fucking things all summer long last year with not a single problem. I hate this fucking disease. Hate it hate it hate it.

In a few days we have to leave town while our house is tented, twins and bunny in tow. I hope Sylvia does okay. She is too old to leave with friends, and I hope not too old to travel (imagine taking your 95 year-old grandfather on a trip up the coast). We really have no other choice.

I wish I had some chicken-soup-for-the-soul things to say about Father’s Day for y’all, but mostly I just hold onto the hope that the girls will find it a joyous holiday with fond memories of their father, sans the emotional baggage that it comes with for their mother.

I know just what you mean about food issues wreaking havoc on your body. I react horribly to salmon … to the point of nausea and vomiting. It has gotten to the point where I now avoid all seafood for fear of some sort of food poisoning within my system. I suppose it is an allergy for me. For you, I do understand how awful bladder issues can be, believe me. I hope you will feel better very soon.
