We’re back from our Monterey trip. Photos are here.

The twins had a great time, and the fact that the world’s greatest kids park was right across the street from our hotel was a real bonus. Our hotel was awesome–if anybody wants a Monterey hotel recommendation, here it is. We used to stay there before we had kids.

Yesterday I took the girls to one of their favorite local parks here at home. Everything was fine for an hour or so, until Saige wandered onto this grassy knoll and got stung by a bee. I didn’t know it, but there was a whole nest in the ground there. Her scream was like nothing I have ever heard before, even from shots. When she came down off the grass and the thing was still on her leg–I swiped it off in a panic (I’m afraid of bees myself) and then took the girls right home.

I couldn’t find the little fucker after I swiped it off. I know they die after they sting, but that just isn’t good enough for me: I wanted to personally grind it into the dust with my heel.

Grrrrrrr. Next project is getting a stake so I can make a sign to warn others about the site.
