Reality Check
What amazes me about the Terri Shiavo thing is that no matter what happens in the case, the parents always seem to think it’s about them. Case in point: the grave marker.
I thought it was fairly tasteful, and when you get right down to it–well, accurate.
I know they’re grieving. But…she’s been gone for over a decade. They don’t ever seem to have accepted that. Another case in point: their response to the autopsy report. They dance all the way around what Terri’s husband already knew, that she was massively brain-damaged, and trying to sidetrack the obvious evidence by talking about her…strong heart. So what? Unfortunately didn’t have much else going for her. You might notice also, they have redesigned the site and taken down the stuff addressing her apparent “awareness” and arguments that she wasn’t really in a vegetative state. But things never really go away on the internet. “Terri is not in a coma, nor a persistent vegetative state. She is a responsive and aware woman suffering from cognitive disability.” Right. If anything, the autopsy showed that she was apparently even worse off than previously thought.
The media seems to be ignoring the autopsy report; I guess the Republicans don’t want it getting out that they were WRONG. So much for their political football.
I’m glad Bruce and I finally got our wills done.

Well, I don’t know about it being tastefull……..sure it’s true but when is someone going to step up in this situation and just let it go and be the bigger person? The dates thing………whatever……..but the “I kept my promise” thing? Gah…….he got his vindication in the autopsy……..I would be really bummed if that were MY headstone. I don’t want people fighting through my memorial in the afterlife.
