<description>I've built several frankenputers and they're always challenging. Five years ago it was a relatively easy process, but with the newer technologies today, there's a lot more to read up on, choose and configure than before.

Unfortunately there are a lot of technology guys who are far better with computers than they are with people, and they finally get their tiny Moment in the Sun to show how frickin' brilliant they are, at your expense, because you actually have a life and they don't.

Don't sweat it. Just walk out. :)

<description>I used to have that sort of adversarial relationship with the lead field support guy at work. It lasted until I thought to use a nylon spatula to peel melted labels off the Teflon-coated master cylinder in the laser printer (which didn't scratch the Teflon, btw) and only had to call him because the sensor had melted as well . . . suddenly he was Mr. Friendly. Because he needed help picking out a spatula for his tool kit. :)

The Husband refused to enter the local art association's "Members Only" show this year, because last year the woman who lined up the judge won first place in the 3D category with "trash" art, and "Best in Show" went to a tea pot cliche, of the variety you can see in any "Readers' Gallery" in Clay Times. He is very glad he didn't -- this year featured the SAME trash piece, and the tea pot lady's same bowls that didn't place last year.

"You should have TOLD me," I said. "I could have gone and played Yankee Blue Nose. 'Ah, Ms. Tea Pot. Don't you have any CURRENT work?' "</description>
